Maybe this thing is cursed. Earlier this week, Alexa Bliss was forced to pull out of the early rounds of the Mixed Match Challenge due to an arm injury. The injury left her partner Braun Strowman heartbroken but also required Ember Moon to step in as a replacement. At the same time though, it set the tournament off on a bad foot and that seems to be the case going forward.
In a new video posted to the WWE’s YouTube channel, it was announced that Sasha Banks has suffered an undisclosed injury and will have to be replaced in the current season of Mixed Match Challenge. Banks is the partner of Bobby Lashley and will be replaced by Mickie James. Lashley and Banks had yet to have their first match together in the competition but were scheduled to team up against Alicia Fox and Jinder Mahal next week. There is no word on how long Banks will be out.
Check out the official announcement.
Opinion: Maybe there is some kind of a curse on this thing. Above all else though, it’s sad that Banks might be missing some significant time, especially with Evolution coming up in about five weeks. That’s a big show and Banks has been a major part of the success that the women’s division has seen in recent years. On the bright side though, James is hardly a slouch and should be fine in the role.
What do you think of the new team? Will James be a better partner than Banks? Let us know in the comments below.
