That’s one way to go for Hardy. There are a lot of people under the WWE umbrella and that is going to make it difficult to find something for all of them to do. NXT alone has a ton of people and since so many of them are new to the bigger stage, a lot of them might not have any kind of established gimmick or character. It can be hard to figure out something for everyone and WWE may have missed a big chance.

Back in 2016, Matt Hardy debuted the Broken character and reached a level that almost no one could have imagined he had in him. The story and characters were so over the top and insane that you could ignore a lot of their flaws, which made for some amazing moments. Now that being said, it would have taken a lot to make it work in WWE, but it turns out that WWE was interested in trying.

Hardy was interviewed by PW Insider Elite Audio and revealed that part of an offer for him to move to NXT would have involved leading a Woken (the WWE version of the Broken character) stable. The idea was suggested by Triple H but Hardy could not come to an agreement. Hardy had no problems with Triple H or NXT but only wanted to help the new generation and not be a star of the company. At the moment, Hardy is a free agent and could appear anywhere he chooses.

The whole thing had serious potential. Check out some of the better Broken moments:

Opinion: I can’t say I wouldn’t be interested to see what would happen in NXT, but the Broken Universe seems to be better elsewhere than under the WWE umbrella. I could imagine that NXT would make it work better than the main roster, but that does not necessarily mean that it would be the best fit. Hardy has a lot to offer wrestling and that could be the case in a variety of companies.
