It’s worth the wait. Back in 1987, the NWA debuted what would become the mother of all team gimmick matches. The match, held in two rings with a double cage, was called WarGames and would be one of the most important matches the company would run for the rest of their existence. Ever since, WWE fans have wanted to see it in their company and now it seems like it’s actually happening.

According to a tweet from HHH, “Takeover: Houston” will now be “Takeover: WarGames” with the main event being the first ever WWE WarGames match. The traditional version hasn’t been seen since 1997, though there was a three team version in 1998 and a singles match version in 2000, though the latter was basically just WarGames in name only. The show takes place on November 18.

If you’ve never seen WarGames, here’s what you’re in for. Check out the full versions on the WWE Network.

Opinion: Oh sweet merciful goodness thank you. This is one of the holy grail matches for WWE fans and the idea that it’s actually taking place is one of the most mind blowing things I could possibly imagine. Hopefully the match lives up to the hype, though they have a lot of expectations to top.
