He’s a priority. There are so many wrestlers in the world today that it takes someone special to get noticed. It takes someone even more special to get noticed on the top levels in the wrestling industry, but you do see it happen on a regular basis. Every so often, someone new comes along who gets the attention of the higher ups in wrestling, and now we appear to be seeing the payoff.

Cameron Grimes was drafted from NXT to SmackDown in the 2023 WWE Draft. According to Fightful Select, WWE officials, including Triple H, had been wanting to bring Grimes up to the main roster for months. Some of the praise came from Grimes’ performance in a dark match, where agents were impressed by his ability to include several different styles in his match. Grimes made his in-ring debut last week on SmackDown, defeating Baron Corbin in less than ten seconds.

Opinion: I can’t say I’m surprised by this, as Grimes is someone who seems to just get it with anything he does. WWE can always use more talent on the main roster and Grimes has the experience and skills to fill that space. He’s already off to a good start and if he can keep that up, we could be in for quite a run from him on SmackDown. Having that kind of support makes it even better, and I’m excited to see where he goes.
