She Would Know: How Vince McMahon Completely Canceled Storyline Over TMZ Report

He can do that. Like him or not, there is no one in the history of wrestling more powerful than Vince McMahon. If McMahon decides to push someone in wrestling, they are on their way to the moon and there is little that can be done to stop them. The opposite is true as well though, as McMahon can crush any story he wants in the blink of an eye. Now we know more about him doing just that.

In 2015, WWE was running a storyline involving two couples, with Dolph Ziggler and Lana as one and Summer Rae and Rusev as the other. Rae was interviewed by Chris Van Vliet and talked about why the story was killed. According to Rae, McMahon killed the storyline when TMZ revealed that Rusev and Lana had gotten engaged despite feuding on WWE TV. Rae said that McMahon and the top WWE writers were invested in the story and upon the report coming out, everything was scrapped, with Rusev and Lana eventually working together again.

Opinion: The story being scrapped because of the TMZ report never made a ton of sense as it was no secret that Rusev and Lana were a real life couple. At the same time, it is entirely in character for McMahon to snap over something that does not matter to most people. At the end of the day, it’s McMahon’s world and that is going to be the case, at least to some degree, as long as he is around WWE.
