What Was Kenny Omega’s Announcement On AEW Dynamite?

It was bigger than the Lex Express. The biggest story going on in the wrestling world at the moment is the rise of Kenny Omega, who has gone from a star to the king of AEW. Last week Omega won the AEW World Title and then took the title to Impact Wrestling this week. That is a pretty cool moment for both companies, but Omega had something else planned and now we know what he had in mind.

The major draw this week on Impact Wrestling was Omega’s first big speech as champion. Omega and Don Callis sat on a bus and talked about Omega becoming the top star in the wrestling world, meaning it was time for him to start acting like a big star. That included traveling like a star, which included the bus that the two were on. Omega promised something huge for Dynamite too and he delivered.

This week on Impact Wrestling, Omega had promised a surprise for Dynamite. Omega and Callis arrived to the show via helicopter and spoke in the ring about the title win the previous week. Later, Omega tried to make an announcement but Callis cut him off and wrapped up the interview. There was no announcement made, with Omega and Callis saying many of the same things they said the previous night.

Opinion: I’m not sure what to think of this one but it’s quite the heel move for Omega to tease an announcement like this and then not do anything with it. That being said, it might not be the best idea to set up something like this and then not deliver. AEW has not developed a reputation of a bait and switch and hopefully they do not start doing that over and over.
