He has it. There are a variety of titles in wrestling and some of them have been around for a very long time. It can be a big deal when one of those titles changes hands, especially if it ends a long title reign. However, there are other times where someone gets a belt but does not become the new champion. That was the case over the weekend and now things are going to get interesting.

Over the weekend at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event, Cody Rhodes successfully defended the WWE Championship against Kevin Owens. However, after the show was over, Owens attacked Rhodes and left with the Winged Eagle version of the title which Rhodes was using as a special occasion for the show. Owens has announced that he will be wrestling as the “true” champion on the upcoming WWE holiday tour. He included an image of him with the Winged Eagle title, suggesting that he will be carrying it for the matches.

Opinion: This is something interesting and it would not surprise me to see Owens lose a few times but say it isn’t a title match or something like that. For now though, things should be interesting with Owens as it is at least a fresh idea. Maybe Rhodes needs a bit of time off for some reason, but I can always go with the idea of having more of the Winged Eagle title around.
