So long chum. Over the course of the last week, one of the more intriguing stories has been whether or not Jack Swagger still works for WWE. He’s claimed to have been released but WWE seemed to claim otherwise. It was fairly clear that Swagger was leaving at some point but not we have an official confirmation.

According to WWE.com, Swagger is officially released as of Monday afternoon. This means that Swagger will have a ninety day no compete clause, during which he’ll be paid by WWE. Swagger is a former World Heavyweight Champion who also won a Money in the Bank briefcase. There is no word on where he’ll be going next or who he’ll be wrestling for in the future.

Opinion: This isn’t exactly a big surprise but it’s good to get it over with so Swagger can move on. It was clear that he wasn’t going to be doing anything in WWE anytime soon so they’re better off just letting him go. Swagger could be effective over in Japan or on the indy scene, but it should be interesting to see how well he does without WWE behind him.
