What’s the staying power of a baseball bat to the face? Last week’s episode of “Impact Wrestling” drew the biggest audience in over six months due to an incident involving Sami Callihan, a baseball bat, and Eddie Edwards’ face. It was the talk of wrestling for the week, but how many viewers stuck around?

According to 411mania.com, this week’s episode of “Impact Wrestling” drew a .07 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 325,000 viewers. These numbers are down 30% and 11% from last week’s .1 rating and 365,000 viewers. Last week’s audience was the highest total since July 14, 2017. Last night’s show was a major card, featuring a main event of Austin Aries defending the Impact Wrestling World Title against Johnny Impact.

Opinion: I can’t say I’m surprised at the numbers being down. The fans wanted to see the carnage that was heavily publicized but didn’t seem interested in sticking around for the regular show. That’s not the biggest shock in the world as “come see a guy get hit in the face with a bat” is actually a pretty strong drawing card. What they had was far from terrible, but it’s a noticeable drop.
