He wants in. Retirement is a complicated subject in wrestling as you never know when someone is going to actually retire for good. AEW has announced that Sting will be having his retirement match at Revolution in March 2024. While there are no details about who Sting will be facing, Ric Flair has promised to be with him. During a recent appearance on the Steve & Captain Evil podcast, WWE Hall Of Famer Goldberg revealed that he has attempted to be a part of the match, though it is not clear if AEW is interested. Goldberg did not explain how he would be involved.
They do have a history. Check out what Sting has done in AEW, plus his time with Goldberg:
Opinion: I’m not sure how Goldberg would, or even could, be involved in such a match but it would be a nice moment to have another WCW legend appear in the match in some way. Sting has been a part of wrestling for such a long time that it would be cool to have someone like Goldberg, who has a bit of history with Sting, involved. For now though, AEW is doing a nice job of making me want to see the match in some form so they are going in the right direction.
