Get well soon. Injuries are one of the few universal constants in wrestling as any wrestler of any size and status can be pulled from action at any given time due to some kind of health issue. It doesn’t matter what has been planned for them as they might not be allowed to compete. That was the case this week as a WWE Superstar was pulled from a scheduled match.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Even Worse: Monday Night Raw Gets Some Very Bad News For The Rest Of The Year
WWE had advertised a 2/3 falls match between New Day and the Viking Raiders for this week’s Monday Night Raw. However, Adam Pearce announced that Erik was not medically cleared to compete and as a result, Kofi Kingston defeated Ivar in a singles match instead. There is no word on the nature of Erik’s issue or how long he might be out of action at the moment.
They had a good match anyway. Check out what we got instead, plus the Viking Raiders at full strength:
Opinion: Hopefully Erik is back in the ring sooner rather than later as one member of a tag team being on the shelf can be devastating for the team as a whole. Ivar is more than capable of having in there on his own for a bit, but that doesn’t mean WWE is going to use him in a singles role. What matters is getting Erik back in the ring, but we might be waiting a bit for that to happen.
