It’s a bad sign. There are all kinds of reasons for a wrestler’s momentum to be stopped and unfortunately there is little that can be done to stop it from happening. Occasionally it happens when the promotion has decided to make a last second change, but there are also instances of wrestlers doing something on their own that gets them into trouble. Now we are hearing another story about a former WWE Superstar doing the latter.

Former WWE Superstar EC3 spoke with Insight With Chris Van Vliet and discussed his departure from the company in 2020. EC3 had been feuding with Dean Ambrose (Jon Moxley), including a series of live event matches. EC3 was playing the babyface while Ambrose was the heel, but the fans were reacting oppositely. During one of the matches, the two decided to switch roles in the middle, with the match going to the planned finish, albeit in a different way. A report of what happened got back to Vince McMahon and EC3’s momentum was stopped shortly thereafter. EC3 let the company the following year.

Opinion: This isn’t the kind of thing that surprises me anymore as WWE has a history of wanting to do almost everything their own way. Having EC3 and Ambrose mix things up like that was going to be badly received backstage, no matter how well the move was received. I get the thinking from EC3 and Ambrose but they kind of had to know how this was going to go.
