This one didn’t work. With less than three days to go before the “2018 Royal Rumble”, there isn’t much time left to cram in more history. That being said, there’s always time for one more Undertaker match, even if it might not be the best from his career. Back in 2005, Undertaker was lacking for big time opponents but a new monster approached him…and it didn’t go very well.
WWE has released the full version of Undertaker vs. Heidenreich in a casket match from “Royal Rumble 2005”. Heidenreich was Paul Heyman’s latest monster to send after Undertaker as part of a long feud with this being the final match between the two. A tag match at “Wrestlemania XXI” with Kane and Snitsky was planned but dropped. Here’s the match:
FULL MATCH - The Undertaker vs. Jon Heidenreich - Casket Match: Royal Rumble 2005
Opinion: It says a lot when even Undertaker can’t make something work. Heidenreich just wasn’t very good and there’s not much of a way around that. He was big, lumbering and not a strong in-ring performer, though he did have a very intimidating look. I can see why this was a good idea on paper, but really it just wasn’t going to work no matter what they tried.
What did you think of Heidenreich? Would you have wanted to see the tag match? Let us know in the comments below.
