What could have been. There are certain matches in wrestling that are so special that they are described as “dream matches”. These can often include wrestlers who you might not see face off at any other time, making it a very rare occurrence. Occasionally the matches are not things you would have thought of seeing in the first place, and one star pitched another such match.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: That’s A No: Backstage Reaction To Possible Vince McMahon Return (And It’s Not Happy)
Earlier this year at WrestleMania 38, Steve Austin came out of retirement for one last match, facing Kevin Owens in an impromptu no holds barred match. Owens recently appeared on the French language Sans Restrictions podcast and revealed that after his WrestleMania match with Austin, he personally asked Shawn Michaels about a possible match between the two. While Michaels, 57 years old, said that he did think about another match, he felt that he shouldn’t do so. There is nothing to suggest that Michaels will be coming out of retirement.
Owens was pretty awesome at WrestleMania. Check out his match, plus some of Michaels at WrestleMania too:
Opinion: I mean, why not ask? Who in the world would have thought Austin vs. Owens would have happened in the first place? This is the kind of thing that might work if you throw out an offer as Owens had a successful track record with making the dream match work. Why not see if you can get another huge WrestleMania moment with Mr. WrestleMania himself?
What did you think of Owens’ efforts? Who would you want to see Michaels face in one more match? Let us know in the comments below.
