Just in case you didn’t get enough this year. Earlier this year, WWE began the first part of a ten year deal with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This first year produced two events with the Greatest Royal Rumble and Crown Jewel. Their reception wasn’t the strongest in the world and things didn’t exactly get better as the year went on. So what does this mean as we move into a new year?
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE is planning two more events in Saudi Arabia for 2019. At the moment there are no names for the shows and no dates confirmed, but May and November seem to be options. There is also no word on if the evens will be broadcast on the WWE Network, but there is no reason to believe that they won’t as leaving them off the Network would seem to miss the point of the deal in the first place.
Don’t remember the show? Check out this awesome surprise at Crown Jewel:
Opinion: I can’t say I’m surprised that this is going to continue, even if it’s not the most popular thing in the world. The shows don’t seem to mean much in the grand scheme of things and the backlash that comes with them isn’t the best thing in the world either. Hopefully things go a little bit better for WWE as the near year comes in, as the first editions weren’t the best.
