Doesn’t Matter: NXT’s Sexyy Red Arrested Night Before Battleground, Plans For Future Appearances

No big deal. Celebrities have been a part of the WWE landscape for decades and that trend continues to this day. The company often brings in various celebrities in an attempt to boost the audience. They have done this as recently as this weekend, but it turns out that an event took place outside of the ring that almost derailed the entire thing. It just won’t have an impact going forward.

Over the weekend, rapper Sexyy Red served as guest host of NXT Battleground and appeared on the show multiple times. According to TMZ, Red was arrested the day before Battleground for disorderly contact at the Newark Liberty International Airport. According to Fightful Select by way of Cagesideseats.com, WWE was surprised by the news. WWE is hoping to have Red continue appearing and the arrest is not expected to change those plans.

Opinion: That is certainly a surprise for Red, though apparently it isn’t going to make that big of a deal for NXT. I’m not sure if it should make any kind of change as WWE is not going to mention anything about the arrest. Unless Red’s career completely tanks, there is no reason for WWE to cut ties with her and that does not seem to be taking place anyway in spite of what happened.
