Over the weekend at NXT Battleground, Kelani Jordan became the inaugural NXT Women’s North American Champion by winning a six way ladder match. Jordan defeated Sol Ruca, Jaida Parker, Michin, Lash Legend and Fallon Henley to win the title. General Manager Ava announced the title back in April at NXT Stand & Deliver, with qualifying matches being held to earn spots in the ladder match.

Opinion: Jordan is a good choice for the first champion as she is someone with some incredible athleticism and the fans have gotten behind her so far. What matters here is that she has won something and that is at least a first foot up the ladder for her. I’m not sure how well this is going to go, but WWE has done something to attempt to make her a star and that is the right move.
