You have to fill in the TV time somehow. Last Saturday at Super Show-Down, Daniel Bryan defeated the Miz in a very short match that didn’t even last three minutes. The match had been one of the heavier promoted matches on the show and it wasn’t clear why the match went as short as it did. Well things have changed a bit since then and we now know why the match didn’t get a ton of time.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the match was scheduled to go that short all along and was designed to be used in promotional material for future matches between the two. Their rivalry is still going as Bryan, who is the new #1 contender to the SmackDown World Title, was on MizTV earlier this week with Miz saying that he wanted to face the winner of the title match down the line.
Here’s a big part of a small match.
Opinion: I get the idea, but I’m not wild on having the matches happen over and over for the sake of setting up another match. Now that Bryan has defeated Miz on a pretty big stage, why would I want to see them fight again? Bryan can do it that fast and completely clean, which isn’t exactly the best way to have the feud continue. At least the match was entertaining and gives Bryan a big win though.
Do you like the idea of the two fighting again? Should Bryan have won in such a short match? Let us know in the comments below.
