Five feet of #1 contender. Coming off the Superstar Shakeup, there’s some fresh talent in the women’s division in the forms of Alexa Bliss and Mickie James. In theory some of these new names could come after Bayley and the Raw Women’s Title, which already turns out to be the case.
Tonight on “Monday Night Raw”, Bliss won a fatal four way, also involving James, Nia Jax and Sasha Banks, to become the new #1 contender to Bayley’s title. Bliss pinned James after a Samoan Drop from Jax, earning her the title shot at “Payback 2017”. This will be Bayley’s third title defense after winning the title back in February.
Opinion: Bliss is a great choice for an opponent as she’s not going to lose anything by taking a fall to Bayley. It’s fairly clear that the big match is going to be Bayley vs. Banks (possibly at Summerslam) and a few more successful title defenses are only going to make Bayley seem like a bigger deal.
