The mystery may be over. One of the biggest stories of the year has been the will he/won’t he situation revolving around Rey Mysterio possibly returning full time to WWE. Mysterio appeared in both January’s Royal Rumble and April’s Greatest Royal Rumble but hasn’t appeared since then. The sides have been said to be negotiating, but not it seems that we may have something more definitive.
In a new post on its Facebook page, Northeast Wrestling has said that Mysterio will not be able to appear for their August 24 event “due to his contractual situation with WWE”. At the moment, there is no word on Mysterio officially signing Mysterio. Also, aside from an NXT house show at an armory, WWE is not running an event on that date. WWE often lets talents finish their independent dates before appearing with the company.
You might need a recap.
Opinion: This sounds fishy to me. I have no idea why Mysterio wouldn’t be allowed to appear at a reputable independent show when WWE doesn’t have a show that night. I’m not saying Northeast Wrestling is making this up, but it’s possible that things might not be on the up and up. Maybe Mysterio is going to be signing with WWE, but it seems like there’s something odd here.
