Shock and awe shock and awe. We’re coming up on Summerslam 2018 and the featured match on the show will be Universal Champion Brock Lesnar defending against Roman Reigns. This is a match that hasn’t gotten the strongest reaction from the fans so something special will be needed in order to get a more positive reaction. It turns out that WWE has a plan, and then a second option.

According to Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE is considering two paths for the Reigns vs. Lesnar match at Summerslam. One option would be to have the match be “rather short” and the other is a long match. There are no time ranges given for the two matches or speculation on who will be leaving with the title. This is the second year in a row where Reigns vs. Lesnar will main event Summerslam, although the previous version was in a four way match.

Here are Alvarez’s comments courtesy of Sportskeeda.com:

“Right now there are apparently two ideas for the Lesnar/Roman match. One of them is a rather short match. And the other is – you guessed it – a long match. By long I mean one of the longer matches Brock has ever had since he’s been in the company. I guess they’ll decide which one is best on the day of the show.”

Maybe the plan will go this way.

Paul Heyman and Brock Lesnar ambush Roman Reigns: Raw, Aug. 13, 2018

Opinion: I’m not sure what their definition of a long match would be. Their match at the Greatest Royal Rumble ran about nine minutes while the two WrestleMania matches were about sixteen each. You could call either of those either short or somewhere in the middle, which makes me wonder how long the match could go. With a show as packed as Summerslam is going to be, I’m hoping it’s the short version instead of the long one.

Which of these matches would you rather see? How long do you think the match will go? Let us know in the comments below.
