Get well soon. There are all kinds of injuries that can take place during a wrestling match and some of them can be terrible all around. You never know when you are going to see someone get hurt at the drop of a hat and it can change things up in a hurry. That appears to have been the situation again this week as a prominent star’s injury may have shaken up some plans.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: And NEW (x2): Multiple Title Changes Take Place At AEW Grand Slam
This week at AEW Grand Slam, Rey Fenix defeated Jon Moxley to win the AEW International Title. Fenix defeated Moxley with back to back Black Fire Drivers, with Moxley not kicking out of the first with the referee stopping his count. According to PWInsider.com, this was an improvised finish as Moxley was injured at some point in the match. It is not clear if the result of the match was changed or not. Another PWInsider report says that Moxley was checked out but left under his own power. It is believed that he may have suffered a concussion.
Moxley is a force when he is at full health. Check out the new champion, as well as the former:
Opinion: The injury is hardly a surprise as that was quite the upset and a rather weird way of going about it. What matters of course is Moxley’s health as you never want to see someone get hurt in any way, with head injuries being even worse. Fenix can be the champion for as long as necessary and then Moxley can come back when healthy and go with whatever they were originally planning to do.
What did you think of the match? How will Fenix do as champion? Let us know in the comments below.
