That escalated quickly. One of the biggest stories of the year for Global Force Wrestling has been the suspension of World Champion Alberto El Patron. El Patron has been dealing with the fallout of his domestic violence incident with Paige over the summer, resulting in him being suspended. He was scheduled to defend the title against Low Ki on this week’s Destination X special, but things have changed in a hurry.

According to an announcement on Impactwrestling.com, El Patron is not only still suspended but has been stripped of the GFW World Title. Therefore, he likely won’t be appearing at Destination X and potentially not at the TV tapings, which will take the show up to “Bound For Glory 2017”, which takes place on November 5. There is no word on what will happen

Opinion: This seems like the end for El Patron in GFW, at least for the time being. If he’s not appearing at the TV tapings, there’s a good chance he’s not appearing at the pay per view either. If that’s true, I’d be a big surprised if he shows up again for the company. El Patron is 40 years old and has made it clear that he’s winding his career down. It wouldn’t surprise me if he left the company after sitting out the rest of his contract.

Are you surprised that El Patron was stripped of the title? What do you think will happen to the title? Let us know in the comments below.
