Ethan Carter III defended his TNA World Heavyweight Championship against Matt Hardy and Drew Galloway at “Bound For Glory” in a losing effort.

The finish came at the 20 minute mark as Hardy hit a Twist Of Fate on Drew Galloway.

Jeff Hardy, who was a former employee for EC3 and the brother of his fellow competitor was the special guest referee.

Prior to the end of the match, EC3 attempted to get DQ’d so he would retain the title, and even went as far as to try and hit the referee with a Steel Chair, but when that didn’t work, he fell with a Twisting Stunner and a Running Boot by Galloway before Hardy hit the move that ended the match, and EC3’s title reign.

Hardy celebrated with his wife and young child in the ring, as EC3 walked away in anger.

Earlier in the night, Tyrus became the number one contender for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship in a Bound For Gold match.

EC3 has his rematch clause against Hardy, and he will be entering with a vengeance.

EC3 has never been pinned, and while that didn’t change, he had an undefeated streak that has now been tarnished with a loss.

Editor’s Note:

I honestly saw Ethan retaining the Championship, and I thought the whole Tyrus win indicated a potential rivalry between the two but I guess that can’t be as easily said now that Hardy is the Champion. Congratulations to him, any one of those guys could have came out victorious and I would have been fine with it. After years of hard work, Hardy deserved the title, and now my hope is that he can keep the title around his waist for the immediate future.
