McMahon was said to be very happy with Roman Reigns vs. John Cena and Braun Strowman vs. Brock Lesnar. He got what he wanted out of those matches.
He and the company promised two ‘WrestleMania‘ worthy matches and they were able to give them that, with two clean non-controversial finishes right in the middle of the ring.
Going into the pay-per-view, McMahon had a very distinct vision for what he wanted as these storylines help continue the road to ‘WrestleMania 34.’
The company wants Lesnar to look very strong so when Reigns goes over clean at ‘WrestleMania 34’ it means something. He is also said to be the strongest challenger possible for ‘The Beast Incarnate.’
The plan was indeed for Reigns to kick out of all of Cena’s multiple strong moves, implying that Cena couldn’t get the job done. Meanwhile, the company wanted Lesnar to survive several Powerslams by Strowman and win with just one F5. They were also told to stay in the ring for the majority of the match, which they did besides one spot involving the ring post.
In regards to what is next for Lesnar, it appears that a feud with Finn Balor for the Universal Championship is next. Lesnar is booked for the final ‘Raw’ before ‘Survivor Series,’ perhaps implying that the pay-per-view will include said match.
