In May, Jeff Jarrett announced the Global Force Wrestling roster during a big reveal in Las Vegas. Among the roster are several former WWE and TNA stars, including some that were currently wrestling under the “IMPACT WRESTLING” brand. One of these names was Tyrus, formerly known as Brodus Clay in WWE.
However, it does not appear the man who used to be known for his funky dance moves will be wrestling in a Jeff Jarrett-owned ring for the foreseeable future.
PWInsider reports TNA pulled Tyrus from Global Force Wrestling because it does not want him potentially appearing on television for the promotion. This is not necessarily specific just to Tyrus, as all TNA contracts reportedly prevent talent from appearing on any television. It is interesting to note, however, he was not scheduled for any Global Force television tapings, and instead was just to appear on live events.
With Destination America bringing in Ring Of Honor, there is more pressure than ever for “IMPACT” to have a sustainable product. ROH itself will allow Moose to appear for GFW, but will not permit television appearances.
Global Force Wrestling does not at this moment in time have a television deal secured, but will be having the tapings in Las Vegas in July. There may be some bad blood between TNA and Jarrett, as Jarrett founded TNA and but gave up ownership and left. He nearly acquired the company a couple of years ago, but eventually opened up GFW instead. It is possible with Tyrus not actually being scheduled for tapings, this may be a sign of dissension between the two entities.
He was set to appear under his real-life name, George T. Murdoch.
Editor’s Note
This has to be a sense of bitterness from TNA’s perspective. If he wasn’t scheduled for tapings, what is the big deal in that sense?
