For the past several weeks, one of the biggest storylines passing through the wrestling world has been the prospects of a TNA/GFW invasion, as Global Force Wrestling recently had its first television tapings involving multiple TNA talent. GFW principle owner Jeff Jarrett, who recently returned to TNA and won the first ever King of the Mountain Championship, also spurred the rumors and noted he was open to a co-branded show with TNA regarding “IMPACT” and “AMPED.”
With that said, one would believe this would be a Jarrett-orchestrated invasion of his promotion into another. But it appears that is not necessarily the case.
Later in the tapings, it would be revealed Jarrett is the new authority figure in TNA, not long after reports of Bully Ray leaving the company surfaced. This would effectively make the principle owner of one company the on-screen man in charge in a different one.
Jarrett would follow the announcement by making Ethan Carter III defend his TNA World Heavyweight Championship against GFW’s PJ Black, a decision Dixie Carter would support.
The angle between the two companies has been reported as a last-minute “Hail Mary” at saving the show from cancellation with Destination America. The station can opt-out of its contract with “IMPACT” in September, and these are likely the final set of TV tapings leading up to that decision.

This is…well…something else. It’s hard to process it all, that’s for sure.
