Thursday night, Wrestling Rumors noted The Great Khali, former World Heavyweight Champion, had been moved to the Alumni section of WWE.com. Many speculated this stood as proof of his release, and WWE even changed his biography into the past tense.

According to a new report, Khali is in fact done with the company.

PWInsider reports WWE sources have told the outlet Khali’s contract recently expired, and the company opted not to renew it. This is not a case of him being released, but rather, let to walk free in a manner similar to Justin Roberts’ contract situation.

Khali, real name Dalip Singh Rana, had been considered an ambassador in WWE, being key in promoting itself to India. Though his action in the ring was limited and he had more been linked to dancing and fake romance segments over his final years in the company, he still remained a presence for some time.

There has been no official comment from WWE about the 42-year-old’s departure as of press time.

Rumors continue to persist about more releases coming, as it was noted Friday morning former “RAW” general manager Brad Maddox had also been moved to the Alumni portion of the company’s website.

Editor’s Note

Happy trails, Khali. Thanks for the…entertainment.
