This past Monday on “Monday Night Raw,” former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar challenged Seth Rollins to a rematch for his title. After Rollins ran off and escaped, Lesnar went on a rampage, destroying everything at ringside.
In the process, Lesnar took WWE play-by-play announcer Michael Cole, threw him in the ring, and gave him an “F-5.” WWE initially listed the injury as the same one that killed Perro Aguayo Jr., which it came under fire for. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter has provided an update as to why Lesnar laid out Cole in particular.
The idea, according to the outlet, is to ready Lesnar for a “Stone Cold” Steve Austin-esque babyface run. Austin was known for doing whatever he wanted to do no matter who it affected, babyfaces or heels. It’s a rogue-style character WWE wants Lesnar to be received as, and per Dave Meltzer, believes it is on the verge of having.
Cole is expected to remain off WWE television for at least one week as he “recovers.” He was replaced at the “Thursday Night Smackdown” tapings by Tom Phillips.
Byron Saxton was forced to finish the “RAW” tapings, but after a shaky start, was bailed out by Jerry “The King” Lawler at Vince McMahon’s orders.

Editor’s Note
They do have an opportunity to do something special with Lesnar. I look forward to seeing how his character progresses.
