Over the past several months, NXT has been invaded by some reputable names within the wrestling industry. The trend started when Rhyno first appeared in Florida, and he has remained a fixture on NXT television since. His appearance was followed by the return of “The” Brian Kendrick, who received a warm response from the NXT faithful.
These then led to the debut of Samoa Joe, who despite appearing for Ring Of Honor, appears to be headed to WWE on a more full-time basis.
While these competitors have been prominent on NXT television, it now seems WWE has bigger plans for them going forward to help build the NXT brand.
Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer reports WWE is planning to stack up its NXT live events to feature more of these part-time names on a consistent basis. For example, while Rhyno now only appears on certain NXT house show cards, with this mentality, he would be on just about all of them. The method would be viewed as a way to help bring drawing power as many of the “established” NXT names eventually make their ways to the main roster sooner rather than later. It would give WWE a contingency plan in case a billed name is removed due to promotion.
According to Meltzer, this is also where plans with EVOLVE come into play. It was reported last week WWE was looking to establish some sort of developmental deal with the promotion, but it was unsure as to what it would be. Per Meltzer, WWE would look to use EVOLVE stars if it is felt the crowds will cater to them in the absence of some of the more major NXT names.
It is unknown when this plan would go into effect.

I like it, but can’t lose track on developing your own stars.
