Earlier this month, it was noted a popular WWE employee had decided to depart from the company. Sandra Gray, who had herself become a personality on “Total Divas” through her interactions with the Divas, left after some time with WWE, opening up a new spot. And in an odd twist, it appears the new WWE seamster was possibly injured at Thursday’s NXT tapings.
As Wrestling Rumors noted in this week’s NXT spoilers, The Vaudevillians took on the team of Jason Jordan and Mikaze in the final batch of tapings for the day. In the match, the referee through up the dreaded “X” signal to take a look at Mikaze, who had gotten legitimately injured during the bout. After nearly 10 minutes, he was reportedly helped to the back following being tended to by WWE doctors and EMTs.
Ironically, it appears Mikaze was Sarath Ton underneath his mask, the man WWE brought in to be its new seamstress. Ton is the real-life fiancé of NXT Women’s Champion Sasha Banks. Banks herself did not work the actual tapings following her heralded match with Becky Lynch at “NXT TakeOver: Unstoppable.”
Ton has past experience in the ring, spending time in the northeast as did Banks prior to signing with WWE. It is unknown why he was being used in the ring for these particular tapings, but it is possible they could have been used a tryout for him. There is no word on his condition at the time.
His status as WWE’s seamster going forward is also unknown.
Editor’s Note
Well if this isn’t about one of the oddest stories you’ll ever read on Wrestling Rumors…the seamster position is actually super important behind the scenes for WWE, helping mend costumes and gear. Bring in the interns in the meantime, I suppose. Best wishes to Ton in his recovery.
