Matt Hardy may potentially be a future WWE Hall of Famer with his brother Jeff, but it appears he has found a more permanent home for the time being.
TNA Executive Vice President of Talent Relations John Gaburick noted Tuesday night on Twitter Hardy had signed a formal contract with the TNA Wrestling brand:
It’s my pleasure to announce that Matt Hardy (@MATTHARDYBRAND) has signed a new deal to remain with @IMPACTWRESTLING.

Following the announcement, Hardy posted a video detailing why he was going to remain in TNA. Much of the video is in kayfabe, relating his storyline with James Storm and Abyss to what they did to Jeff as his motivation to stay around, but does note other real-life motivations. Hardy mentions he has been on the road constantly doing independent wrestling, which he loved for a while. However lately, the burden of doing all the shows has taken a toll on him mentally and physically, which led to him to want to cut down on the amount of independent dates he will take.
He first went to TNA in 2011 after an ugly departure from WWE, and was released after multiple issues outside the ring. Hardy returned to the promotion in summer of 2014, and had been working on a handshake, date-to-date deal with it ever since.
His wife Reby Sky is expecting their first child shortly.
Editor’s Note
As long as he’s happy, I suppose.
