Global Force Wrestling held a press conference for the upstart company’s roster reveal. Jeff Jarrett, Karen Jarrett and special guest, Chael Sonnen of UFC fame, were all on hand at the New Orleans Arena in Las Vegas. While Jarrett had teased this GFW roster reveal for a while via interviews and social media, interestingly there was not a live online feed of the event.
Jeff Jarrett first announced that Chael Sonnen as the first-ever “GFW Expert Analyst”. Some reports have suggested Sonnen will be the color commentator for the company, but that has not been officially confirmed as of this writing.
GFW Roster (as it was revealed during the conference):
– PJ Black (aka Justin Gabriel from WWE)
– Davey Boy Smith, Jr.
– Karl Anderson
– Doc Gallows
– Chris Modetsky (aka Chris Masters from WWE)
– Quinn “Moose” Ojinnaka (aka Moose from ROH)
– Thea Trinidad (aka Rosita from TNA)
– Lei’D Tapa (from TNA)
– Lance Hoyt (Just confirmed)
That appears to be it for now. Jeff Jarrett, Karen Jarrett and Chael Sonnen posed for pictures after the announcements and a full press release (and potentially a video) is said to be coming later. We will keep you posted right her on WrestlingRumors.net.
UPDATED 5/6 @ 2:21 ET: Global Force Wrestling sent out an official press release already, confirming the names we have listed above. Additionally, they mentioned that Gallows & Anderson will in fact work as a tag team (both work in the Bullet Club in NJPW) along with the team of Lance Hoyt and Davey Boy Smith, Jr. as the “Killer Elite Squad”.
Editor’s Note: While you can debate the roster as much as you want, there’s really no arguing the pitiful attempt at execution for this roster reveal. GFW doesn’t have television at this point, so the only thing they have going for them right now, aside from traditional media, is social media and the internet. Their official Twitter account wasn’t even posting updates from the conference. Truly unacceptable and a lot of fans were upset — fans that went out of their way to support Global Force, only to be slapped in the face virtually with ZERO communication from GFW’s side of things once the conference actually started.
On a lighter note, tell us what you thought about the roster choices below in the Comments section!
