With the Royal Rumble quickly approaching, former WWE Superstar Montel Vontavious Porter likes to tease a return for the big match. But MVP may have a different company in his near future instead.

Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer is reporting that MVP is likely to sign with TNA very soon, if he hasn’t already. The former United States Champion has spent time wrestling in Japan and surveying the independent circuit ever since leaving WWE at the end of 2010.

The 40-year-old, real name Hassan Hamin Assad, appeared briefly in 2003 and 2004 on Impact Wrestling and TNA Xplosion without a permanent contract. But it appears that things may be different this time around, as he may be a major player in storyline.

Meltzer reports that it is likely he will be involved in a story with Dixie Carter straight out of the gun. Last week on Impact Wrestling, the newly-signed American Wolves stated that they were brought in by the “new” TNA investor, to which Carter was caught off-guard. Meltzer hints that this may be him.

In 2012, MVP stated that he had “no intention” of singing with the company anytime soon. But last year, he had quickly changed his thoughts, and discussed his intrigue with TNA.
