The impact on the New York/New Jersey area from hosting WrestleMania has been revealed by local union representatives.

As many as 450 people were employed at the various events held over WrestleMania weekend, earning around $1.4 million in salaries.

Workers were made up from people from all over the NY/NJ area, as well as people coming from as far as Cleveland to work on the show.

Before WrestleMania itself, people worked between MetLife Stadium and the Izod Center, which hosted WrestleMania Axxess and also the post-WrestleMania edition of Monday Night Raw.

The four ‘main’ events of WrestleMania weekend, comprising of WrestleMania Axxess, the Hall Of Fame induction ceremony (held at Madison Square Garden), WrestleMania itself and Monday Night Raw sold more than 140,000 tickets.

WrestleMania itself was the highest grossing event in MetLife Stadium history and WrestleMania Axxess was the company’s highest attended yet – likely down to the fact this years event was held in an arena rather than a convention center as with previous years.

The ‘Superstars For Sandy Relief’ charity auction event raised over $524,000, which will be split between the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City and the Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund.
