TNA has had its hands full with personnel changes over the past several months. Not only are top executives being shifted around, but talent are leaving as well, as rumors circulate “IMPACT WRESTLING” may be canceled by Destination America.
One of the major names leaving TNA recently was Austin Aries, one-half of the Dirty Heels tag team. Aries made a major impression during his time in TNA, but decided to ultimately move on elsewhere. Turns out, he will be returning to his roots.
Ring of Honor announced the following via a release on its website Monday morning:
For the first time in nearly five years, Austin Aries is returning to Ring of Honor! On July 17th Aries, who is the first 2x ROH World Champion, as well as former ROH World Tag Team Champion, will be in Sin City!
The always confident and outspoken former leader of Generation Next has told Ring of Honor officials he wants to address the ROH fans live in Las Vegas. Exactly what Aries has to say is not clear, but he has never been known to hold anything back and he is not one to shy away from controversy. Be there live on July 17th to see just what kind of impact Austin Aries plans to make in his Ring of Honor return!
This is similar to the promotion used for Samoa Joe when he made his short-lived return to ROH before headed to NXT full-time recently. Aries name has been floated around for an NXT appearance as well, though nothing has come of it as of yet.
Aries partner in the Dirty Heels, Bobby Roode, will be staying with TNA, but also recently announced he will be appearing for Global Force Wrestling as part of an impending partnership between the two companies. Interestingly enough, this new signing for Aries will keep him on Destination America, just part of the Ring of Honor brand instead.
Editor’s Note
Not a surprising move by any stretch of the imagination. Happy for him.
