SmackDown opened with Daniel Bryan trying to eat an apple. By the end of the segment, an Intercontinental Championship match was set for the show’s main event.
Yes, really.
Miz came in with Maryse, making the usual A-list complaints about his treatment on SmackDown Live. Bryan’s solution? An Intercontinental Championship match. Sounds fair, right?
Well, Miz wanted a no-DQ stipulation, but Bryan wasn’t having it, reasoning that Miz just wanted an excuse for Maryse to interfere.
So Bryan decided to make it a Lumberjack Match, because why not?

The match went down with the expected interference from outside out the ring. Utter chaos, you might call it–and just the show-closing brawl that we’ve come to expect before the Royal Rumble.

Miz attempted to cheat for the victory by putting his feet on the ropes, but Dean Ambrose pulled through with the Dirty Deeds for the victory.
Miz and Ambrose are both set for the Royal Rumble this Sunday, so the battle isn’t over yet. Don’t be surprised if they meet in the battle royal, and set up the furthering of the feud.
