Barring something miraculous in the next 24 hours, the Hardys are done with TNA. “Broken” Matt Hardy and Brother Nero will be taking their brilliance elsewhere. Their new home is increasingly looking to be that of Meekmahon, and that definitely has fans talking.
But the more interesting story at the moment is exactly what went wrong during the TNA contract negotiations. The Hardys had creative control over their characters, light schedules, and the freedom to make appearances and even wrestle at independent shows. None of those options would be available with WWE.
Yet things went poorly enough that it seems that’s where the family is heading. Matt was feeling gracious when discussing the departure on social media.
My stint with @IMPACTWRESTLING was DELIGHTFUL. EXCEPTIONAL talent & locker room. A great, respectful team that worked hard in tough times.

I wish @IMPACTWRESTLING all the best going forward, especially the INDUSTRIOUS talent. I hope they're all treated with respect & fairness.

His wife Reby, however–not so much.

Why try to do things the right way when you get bs & drama in return ? Matt is a nice guy. I'LL keep the shits "hostage". Fuck outta here.

The “shits” here seem to be the Tag Team Championships.

She was willing to give it up for TNA’s talent, but didn’t seem to have much time for the folks currently in management.
SURPRISE ! Yes, I am a HUGE BITCH if you disrespect me or my family ? Are you surprised ? Oh, no ? Okay, can we move on now ? ??

On top of all that? A little WrestleMania tease. The “broken tailgate party” just happens to be the same day as WWE’s big event.

Jeff Jarrett–TNA founder who has recently returned to the company–was more measured in his responses.
(1)For the record, it's @IMPACTWRESTLING 's corporate policy not to make any comments on talent contractual matters….
— Jeff Jarrett (@RealJeffJarrett) February 28, 2017
(2) I personally wish nothing but continued success for @JEFFHARDYBRAND @MATTHARDYBRAND @GallowaySpeaks . All three of them are fantastic…
— Jeff Jarrett (@RealJeffJarrett) February 28, 2017
(3) talent and wherever they land they will obviously do very well. Wrestling business can be tough at times, but one thing is for sure…
— Jeff Jarrett (@RealJeffJarrett) February 28, 2017
(4)…the business is ALWAYS changing! Ready for @UniversalORL and can't wait for Thursday! #MIGA

One thing’s for certain–Matt was right when he said this would be an “intriguing week” for the wrestling industry.
