Those accents just get in the way sometimes, you know? Such was the case for Nikki Cross this weekend, after some members of the audience thought she’d gotten even crazier than usual.

Some folks coming out of a recent NXT house show say that Nikki crossed the line in using a homophobic slur that we won’t be reprinting here. Naturally, in the largely family-friendly environment of modern WWE, fans were a more than a little disturbed.

But it ain’t true.

In a series of Twitter posts, fellow Sanity member Killian Dain–formerly known as Damo–offered some agitated clarity.

“She said maggots. Stop spreading lies Internet Wrestling community. She’s an advocate for equality if you bother paying attention. We literally shouted exact same thing last week and no one thought it was anything else.”

And that’s your daily controversy averted. Keep on keeping on, Sanity.

While Sanity lost one of their original members, Sawyer Fulton, due to injury, the team has still been one of the best parts of recent NXT shows. Eric Young is still leading the group in a crusade against the “Perfect 10” Tye Dillinger, and Nikki Cross was recently even contending for the NXT Women’s Championship.
