The wrestling world is still reeling from the loss of “Rowdy” Roddy Piper, whose death July 30 from cardiac arrest has impacted the wrestling community. TMZ.com initially reported Piper’s death, which has led to an outpouring of condolences on social media. Many WWE Superstars have posted tributes through their social media accounts, expressing how Piper impacted their lives. Most of the superstars broke kayfabe when posting messages about Piper. However, Rusev stayed in character for his Roddy Piper tribute.
Rusev posted the following on his Twitter account, which shows his last encounter with Piper on the final edition of “Piper’s Pit”, which took place on the Dec. 22, 2014 edition of “Monday Night Raw”.
Last piper pit. Me cold fish @LanaWWE and the hot rod. God speed. pic.twitter.com/6E4ehuxjIw

While still remaining in character, which should help further his potential “SummerSlam” storyline with Dolph Ziggler, Rusev was able to give a fitting tribute to a WWE legend.
Editor’s Note:
The amount of messages sent out over the last few days serving as tributes to Piper are overwhelming, demonstrating his true impact on the wrestling community. I am all for Rusev remaining in character while giving his tribute, as it shows his dedication to his storyline and persona. Being a part of the last ever “Piper’s Pit” is something I am sure Rusev will always remember.
