WWE Tag Team Championship Match Set for WWE “Battleground”
WWE has announced that a WWE Tag Team Championship Match will be held at WWE “Battleground” on July 19. The reigning WWE Tag Team champs, The Prime Time Players, will defend their titles against former WWE Tag Team Champions, The New Day.
The New Day lost the WWE Tag Team gold to Titus O’Neil and Darren Young at WWE “Money In The Bank” on June 14. Xavier Woods and Big E are the two representatives of The New Day that lost the straps to O’Neil and Young.
WWE writes,
“WWE Tag Team Champions The Prime Time Players will get the opportunity to prove their worth at WWE Battleground, where they will defend their titles against former champions The New Day in a rematch from Money in the Bank.
Titus O’Neil & Darren Young emerged from a hungry pack of contenders to challenge The New Day, earning the No. 1 Contenders’ slot by defeating The Ascension and The Lucha Dragons in a Triple Threat Match. With Kofi Kingston out of the picture following the Money in the Bank Contract Ladder Match, The Prime Time Players got the rare opportunity to face Big E & Xavier Woods on a level playing field.
The challengers made the most of their golden opportunity. In a hard fought battle that broke down quickly, O’Neil emerged from the fracas to hit Woods with Clash of the Titus to win the bout and the titles for his team. The Prime Time Players followed up on their huge victory one night later on Raw by teaming up with Neville to defeat all three members of The New Day in Six-Man Tag Team action. The champions also helped The New Sensation during his one-on-one battle with Woods on SmackDown, neutralizing the threat of Kingston & Big E at ringside.
Now, The New Day is using their guaranteed rematch in hopes of reclaiming the championships. Will the power of positivity be enough to get The New Day a second reign as WWE Tag Team Champions, or will The Prime Time Players show that they’re truly a million dollar team?”

Yep. Saw this one coming, too. I guess we’ll see the titles change hands again, eh?
