The latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has provided WWE’s reaction to Hulk Hogan’s desire to wrestle “one last match.” As previously reported, Hogan is currently training to compete in a WWE ring one more time before he calls it quits completely, which is news to the company he works for.
Dave Meltzer claims that WWE is under the impression that Hogan is already retired. Hogan currently has a Public Relations, or an Ambassador contract with WWE, which provides guaranteed money per his appearance of a set amount of dates per month.
However, Hogan and WWE are not exclusive, and if Hogan wanted to compete in an independent wrestling promotion’s ring, he may choose to do so. WWE executives do not plan on putting Hogan back into the ring.
Prior to WrestleMania XXX, WWE medical staff examined Hogan to see if he could compete in the ring, but the results were negative. Originally, WWE wanted “Rowdy” Roddy Piper and Hogan to be involved in a physical match-up, but without a clean bill of health from WWE physicians, this obviously did not happen. Instead, Hogan and Piper appeared alongside of fellow WrestleMania I main eveners Mr. T and “Mr. Wonderful” Paul Orndorff.
Orndorff will be joining Hogan in a WWE ring again on Aug. 11 as part of the Hulk Hogan Birthday Celebration that will take place during the episode. Scott Hall and Kevin Nash of the nWo, as well as Ric Flair and Jimmy Hart will also be joining in on the celebration.
Editor’s Note:
Hogan. Just stay retired.
