WWE may air ads on the WWE Network soon. A new report from F4WOnline.com claims that WWE executives have had serious conversations about including advertisements on the WWE Network to help make up for the loss in revenue the company has experienced since launching the network in the first quarter of 2014.
Ads could appear during WWE Network programming as early as first quarter 2015, once the network has launched globally and its true worth can be determined. WWE expects to launch the network overseas in the UK prior to their “SummerSlam” PPV in August, then they will make it available in a number of other countries.
One the company has a global set of subscribers, those that pay to access the WWE Network could begin seeing ads, and/or a raise in the network’s price. Rumor has it that the company will also raise the cost of a WWE Network subscription by a dollar or two once the network launches world-wide, much like Netflix recently did.
There has been no talk about what these ads may look like, when they would appear during the programming, etc. The only information that exists, is that WWE is seriously considering using ad revenue to help with the cost of running the network.
Editor’s Note:
So the WWE Network would in turn look more like Hulu than Netflix. Whatever, as long as ads aren’t popping up like crazy during PPVs or something.
