WWE 2K14 developer Cory Ledesma has implied in a recent interview that 2K Sports did in fact have to make some deal with Hulk Hogan to have him appear in WWE 2K14. As we previously reported, there is now rumored TNA locker room heat on Hogan for partnering up with 2K to be a part of a WWE branded game.
Hogan’s friend and member of the TNA Creative staff, Eric Bischoff, took to Twitter yesterday to claim that there is no heat on Hogan in the TNA locker room. However, WrestlingInc.com has posted this interview with Ledesma, that indicates some “hurdles” had to be jumped in order for Hogan to appear in the “30 Years of WrestleMania” mode in the game. Ledesma says,
“We wanted to obviously make sure we had the biggest matches, the most iconic matches. The first hurdle we had was Hulk Hogan. Hulk Hogan’s not currently with the WWE. We knew that if we couldn’t get Hulk Hogan, we weren’t going to have a ’30 Years of WrestleMania’ mode, it’s just not possible.
Hogan was involved in so many matches and so many moments, that he was critical to the game. We knew once we could overcome that hurdle, and Hulk Hogan was able to get into the game, we knew that it was going to be kinda downhill from there and we’d be able to secure a lot of the talent that might not be with WWE anymore.”
