New reports have confirmed that there will be two Ladder Matches at “Money In The Bank” on June 29. One will be for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, while the other will be a Money in the Bank Ladder Match for a briefcase. Inside that briefcase will be a contract stating that the holder of that briefcase is entitled to a WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match whenever they wish, as long as it is asked for within one year.
As previously reported, having two Ladder Matches on the show has been WWE’s back-up plan since they learned that former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan would in danger of not being able to compete at the event. Now that they know definitively that Bryan is not cleared to wrestle at “Money In The Bank,” WWE is pulling the trigger and will soon announce that there will be not only a Championship Ladder Match, but also a traditional Money in the Bank Ladder Match as well.
It was mentioned during the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE at one time planned to announce two Ladder Matches for the event during the June 9 edition of “Monday Night Raw.” However, they simply just announced that there would be a Championship Ladder Match, and are likely waiting to announce the competitors for the Money in the Bank Ladder Match either during the June 13 edition of “Smackdown,” or the June 16 edition of “RAW.”
Seven superstars will likely be featured in each match, with Cesaro, Alberto Del Rio, Randy Orton, and Sheamus already confirmed as four of the men that will battle for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. The Money in the Bank briefcase will go to an up-and-coming star that the company wants to build from the mid-card into a main eventer. While it is unsure of who the company will give the briefcase to, it should be noted that whoever it may be, they’re likely going to be pushed soon after they pull it down.
Editor’s Note:
I could easily see someone like Bo Dallas win the briefcase. Makes sense, and the possible cash-in could add some good momentum to his debut.
