The latest edition of “Wrestling Observer Radio” has provided an update on why Sting has yet to sign a WWE contract. As previously reported, rumors have it that Sting has not signed an official WWE deal just yet, even though he is the most heavily promoted superstar on WWE.com currently. Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer explained why Sting hasn’t signed during his latest radio entry.

Meltzer claims that money is the sole reason Sting has not agreed to a WWE contract. While everyone expects Sting to sign a contract, Sting has an idea of what he’s worth and he will not sign until he is promised to be compensated justly.

Triple H, who has been the man meeting with Sting throughout negotiations, mentioned Sting in his weekly “State of the WWE Address” with Michael Cole, teasing the former WCW Champion’s upcoming arrival to the company very strongly. Triple H was also the man behind the Hall of Fame negotiations between WWE and Bruno Sammartino, as well as the Ultimate Warrior. Sting mentioned the fact that he has not met with Vince McMahon in a recent interview with UK’s The Mirror.

The Sting merchandise being sold does not mention Sting’s name, nor does it feature his face or any of his recognizable face paint designs. The T-shirt on-sale currently at Shop.WWE.com features the Scorpion image that was used on Sting’s unitard upon his return to active competition in late 1997. WWE acquired the rights to this image when it purchased WCW in 2001.

While many believe that Sting will come in and work at least one match for the company, Meltzer states that WWE may be feeling the pressure from 2K Sports to make this happen faster than they wanted to. As previously reported, Sting’s signing was place on the “not a high priority” list by WWE executives following WrestleMania XXX and the injuries Undertaker suffered during his match with Brock Lesnar. Undertaker and Sting were being discussed for a match at WrestleMania 31, and when it looked like ‘Taker may have finished up his career in New Orleans, plans for Sting became a “no hurry” situation.

However, 2K Sports went a head and filmed the commercial promoting Sting, while also adding two different versions of Sting in the upcoming “WWE 2K15” video game. 2K was under the assumption that the deal was done between Sting and WWE, and he would be working for the company when the game was released.

When WWE caught wind of the ad companies looking for a Sting body double and orchestra for their commercial, it was reported that the company was upset because Sting was not under contract, so they denied any knowledge about what the ad would be for. They would have had to have given 2K Sports the permission to use a version of Sting’s “Crow” theme from WCW for the commercial, which means at some point they “ok’d” the addition of Sting in the game, however now they feel pressure to sign Sting, and his addition to the roster in some way has become a priority.

Sting has dominated WWE.com as the most featured superstar on the site since the “WWE 2K15” advertisement announcing his involvement dropped on July 14. If you go to “Superstars” at the top of WWE.com, Sting is listed as the top “featured superstar,” even though he has never stepped foot inside of a WWE ring. Many believe that Sting has signed a deal, otherwise promotion of his likeness to this magnitude would not be going on, but Meltzer disagrees.

Editor’s Note:
What do YOU believe? Do you think Sting has already signed a contract and we’ll see him soon? Or do you think 2K’s inclusion of Sting is turning the screws to WWE brass and Sting will likely be signed soon because of the video game? Let us know in the comments section below.
