The latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has provided an update on John Cena’s eye injury angle, which apparently is half legitimate, and half storyline driven. Rusev is supposedly responsible for Cena’s issue, but that isn’t actually the case.
According to the report, Cena suffered a corneal abrasion during WWE Live Events during the weekend of Feb. 1. Although it was noticeable, Cena still worked on Feb. 2. However, the situation became worse, and he did not work the Feb. 8 weekend Live Events, and he didn’t compete during the Feb. 9 edition of “Monday Night Raw.”
The company then used Rusev as the angle and had the Bulgarian Brute go after Cena’s eye during the program to give the man time to heal. However, Cena is said to be competing during the company’s tour of Abu Dhabi, which begins on Feb. 12. He is also expected to compete, albeit possibly not at 100 percent, come “Fastlane” on Feb. 22.
Editor’s Note:
Well…Cena being injured just happens to offer a way of Rusev being able to defeat a weakened Cena at “Fastlane,” only to get bested at WrestleMania 31. Because, he’s John Cena, **** you.
