Undertaker vs. Bray Wyatt Confirmed for WrestleMania 31
A match between The Undertaker and Bray Wyatt was confirmed during the March 9 edition of “Monday Night Raw.” As Wyatt taunted the Dead Man for weeks, he continued his verbal attack during the program. However, the segment featuring “The New Face of Fear” would end with The Phenom’s voice claiming that Wyatt will rest in peace at WrestleMania, as his ominous theme music flooded the arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Wyatt will be the first person to face The Undertaker since his historic loss to WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania XXX. The loss was the first ‘Taker had suffered at the company’s biggest annual event, changing his undefeated record to 21-1.
While Lesnar and his representative Paul Heyman have consistently called out the fact that The Beast Incarnate destroyed The Undertaker at WrestleMania XXX, which seemingly could have been viewed as material leading to a rematch between the Deadman and Lesnar, those plans were never discussed passed mere conversation backstage.
The decision for ‘Taker to finally be beaten on a WrestleMania stage in 2014 was all Vince McMahon’s idea. According to reports, only McMahon, ‘Taker, Lesnar, and Heyman knew the finish going into that match. The referee had to make the count since Undertaker didn’t kick-out during the last pinfall, but has gone on-record saying that he was shocked, because earlier in the day he had been told that Undertaker would be moving to 22-0, not 21-1.
With Wyatt wanting to be the new “face of fear,” his latest target has been Undertaker, saying that it’s time for him to step over ‘Taker’s dead remains so that he can reign as the company’s only inhuman entity. The match is now confirmed, and will take place at WrestleMania on March 29.
