Two-Out-of-Three Falls WWE Tag Team Championship Match Set for “Payback”
WWE Tag Team Champions The New Day will defend their titles against Tyson Kidd and Cesaro on May 17 at WWE “Payback.” The match, which was announced during the May 11 edition of “Monday Night Raw,” will take place at the Pay-Per-View event as a Two-out-of-Three Falls bout.
Kofi Kingston made the announcement during a pre-match segment on “RAW,” making the match official. Cesaro and Kidd lost the WWE Tag Team Championship to The New Day at WWE “Extreme Rules” in April, making this a rematch for the titles.
A double-turn occurred at “Extreme Rules,” effectively making The New Day full-fledged heels, and Kiddsaro babyface. Indulging in their new found character roles, Xavier Woods, Big E, and Kingston have made their impact on WWE programming felt, becoming one of the most entertaining and heat-gaining heel factions in recent memory.
As the match card seemed weak going into the May 11 “RAW,” it seems as if the card is all but finalized going into the last five days before the event. You can see what other matches make up the match line-up here.
Editor’s Note:
That should be a great bout. I’m really enjoying the charisma shown by The New Day as of late. It’s been a breath of fresh air. We knew that all three stars were great workers, and NOW they’re letting their characters shine as well. And who DOESN’T love watching Kiddsaro work in the ring?
