WWE’s resident Celtic Warrior Sheamus may be the next WWE Intercontinental Champion according to recent WWE Live Event advertisements. As previously reported, the vacant Intercontinental title will be awarded to one of six WWE superstars vying for the strap at “Elimination Chamber” on May 31.
Daniel Bryan recently relinquished the Intercontinental Championship during the May 11 edition of “Monday Night Raw” citing health issues. Bryan has been out-of-action with an undisclosed injury since the beginning of April, and following an MRI, doctor’s are unsure of when, or if, Bryan will ever compete inside of a WWE ring again.
The IC title will be contested for inside of the Elimination Chamber itself during the recently added WWE Network exclusive Pay-Per-View event on May 31. While no superstars have yet to be officially announced as competitors for this match, Sheamus has been advertised in recent promotional material for upcoming WWE Live Events as “WWE Intercontinental Champion.”
While these are merely advertisements and plans can change, especially with this information hitting the Internet, note that a lot of times when information such as this shows up in advertisements, such as Batista, Rob Van Dam, and Chris Jericho’s latest returns, WWE seems to follow through.
Editor’s Note:
Sheamus gets the strap, much like I thought he would from Bryan a few months into their feud that was planned before Bryan got put on the IR.
